2017 in review and goals for next year - life of an illustrator

December 26, 2017 Romica Spiegl

Hello,

in this video, I share a review of my year in the life of illustrator 2017, talk about what I have accomplished and what my goals are for next year for my career as an illustrator and my personal goals. I will talk about the classes I have taken during the year that really helped me to get a deeper understanding of children's book illustration and a portfolio building course both my Make Art That Sells. You can find a video review of my experience of the children's book course in the links below. Furthermore I joined the SCBWI or Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators, and I talk about the different competitions I have joined and my application at the bright agency. I really hope that sharing my journey can inspire those of you who would like to work in illustration and especially children's book illustration.

I wish you a wonderful new year and look forward to hearing from you.

Stay joyful,
Romica

Sept Update: New classes, taking big first steps, and writing my thesis

September 22, 2017 Romica Spiegl

A big welcome and hello

to all my new subscribers, thank you so much for joining me in this journey of my creative career as an illustrator.

In this video, I will share with you what happened in the last few months of summer. First, you will hear about my new creative online classes, one is a children's book assignment class and the other a gouache for illustrators free 7-day course to promote my main online class. Then I will share some other amazing news: I finally took the courage to send out my work to a magazine; I joined the SCBWI Society for Children's Book Writers and Illustrators and submitted an illustration to my first professional illustration competition (Undiscovered Voices); and I finally had the courage to send out my portfolio to an illustration agency specialising in children's book illustration. The video is concluded with my thoughts about my final year of university studying graphic design with pathway illustration and thoughts on writing my 3rd thesis.

I'd love to hear what you are up to.

Stay joyful,
Romica
